General
What is Medzr?
Medzr is Ireland’s first peer-to-peer marketplace built exclusively for healthcare professionals and students. Buy and sell everyday work essentials - new or used -including scrubs, textbooks, stethoscopes and more. You can also search for your next healthcare role via jobs posted by verified recruiters. It is a marketplace built on trust. We rely on sellers to accurately describe the condition of items listed for sale. If something isn't as described, please contact us at support@medzr.com and we'll do our best to help resolve it.
Is Medzr the seller? No. Medzr is not a seller. Every item on Medzr is listed by an individual seller. The contract of sale is directly and exclusively between the buyer and the seller. Medzr provides the platform technology only and is not a party to any transaction.
Who can use Medzr? Medzr is intended for healthcare professionals and students and healthcare recruiters. You must be 18 or over.
How much does it cost? Browsing and posting is free.
However please see pricing below; we try to keep these low as possible to ensure sustainability and running of the platform.
Pricing for Sellers: Medzr charges a commission of 12% of the subtotal price on each completed transaction, (no comission charged on shipping) subject to a minimum commission of €1.00. The minimum €1 only kicks in when 12% of the sale price would be less than €1, i.e. on subtotal transactions under €8.33. This commission is deducted from the seller's earnings before payout. The commission is inclusive of all platform costs to use and Stripe payment processing fees. No additional fees or deductions will be applied to the seller's payout beyond this commission. The seller will receive the remaining balance after commission has been deducted.
Pricing For Buyers: A Service & Protection Fee of €1 is added to each order at checkout. This fee helps us provide: secure payment processing, fraud prevention measures customer support, ongoing platform maintenance and improvements.
Why do I pay a Service & Protection Fee? The fee helps keep Medzr safe, secure, and sustainable for healthcare students and professionals while allowing us to maintain a trusted marketplace experience.
Do I need to verify my identity to use Medzr? Yes, to receive payments through Medzr you'll need to complete identity verification. You will get a separate email from Stripe regarding this; please complete promptly to allow you to receive your payments. This is a legal requirement under financial regulations and applies to all sellers on the platform. Verification is handled securely by Stripe, our payment provider. Medzr never sees or stores your identity documents directly.
Why is identity verification required? Stripe is regulated as a financial institution and must comply with KYC (Know Your Customer) rules under European and Irish financial law. These rules exist to prevent fraud and money laundering on payment platforms. As a healthcare marketplace, Medzr also has an additional interest in confirming that all sellers are who they say they are. It protects you and the professionals you're transacting with.
What documents will I need to provide? You'll typically be asked for a government-issued photo ID (passport or driving licence), your bank account details for payouts, and proof of address depending on your account activity. If you're operating as a business rather than an individual, Stripe may also ask for company registration details.
When do I need to complete verification? You'll be prompted to verify during the Stripe Connect onboarding flow when you first sign up to sell on Medzr. The process takes around 5 to 10 minutes. If verification isn't completed, Stripe will pause your payouts and eventually your ability to accept payments. You'll receive reminders before this happens.
Is my data safe? Yes. Your identity documents are submitted directly to Stripe, which holds PCI DSS Level 1 certification, the highest level of payment security available. Medzr does not receive or store copies of your ID. Stripe is used by millions of businesses worldwide, including major platforms, banks, and healthcare providers.
What happens if my verification is rejected? Stripe will explain what went wrong and give you the opportunity to resubmit. Common reasons include blurry document images or mismatched names. In most cases, resubmitting with a clearer image resolves the issue. If you're having difficulty, contact us at support@medzr.com and we'll help you work through it.
I’ve found a bug or something doesn’t work. What do I do? We’re in early launch and may have a few teething issues. Email support@medzr.com with a description and a screenshot if possible. We aim to respond within 5 working days.
Buying on Medzr
How do I buy something? Find a listing, choose your delivery method, and click Buy Now. You’ll go through a secure Stripe checkout. Your card is charged immediately and funds are held safely until you confirm receipt.
How do I know when my item has been sent? You will receive an email notification when the seller marks your item as delivered. You can also check the status in your Medzr inbox at any time.
Do I need to do anything when my item arrives? Yes, mark it as received in your Medzr inbox. This releases payment to the seller. If you don’t do this within 14 days of the seller marking it as delivered, the system will automatically complete the transaction and release payment. If there is any problem with your item, you must raise it within those 14 days.
What if my item doesn’t arrive or isn’t as described? Raise a dispute immediately through your Medzr inbox. DO NOT CLICK I HAVE RECEIVED MY ORDER BUTTON. The Dispute button only shows when the transaction is in the right stage. It’s available after the order is marked delivered, and before it’s marked received. If it’s not in that window, the button won’t appear. You have 14 days from the seller marking the item as shipped to do this. Do not wait, once the 14-day window closes the transaction completes automatically and a refund is no longer possible through the platform.
What happens if I raise a dispute? Medzr will review the dispute and may cancel the transaction and issue a full refund including the 12% commission. If no action is taken within 60 days of a dispute being raised or no repsonse from the seller within 60 days, it is automatically cancelled and you are refunded in full.
Will I have to pay customs charges on international orders? If you are buying from an Irish seller and you are in Ireland, there are no customs charges. If you are ordering from outside Ireland, you may be liable for import duties or VAT in your own country. These charges are outside Medzr’s control and are your responsibility as the buyer. We recommend buying from Irish sellers only.
Selling on Medzr
What can I sell? Scrubs and uniforms, textbooks and study materials, stethoscopes and non-critical diagnostic tools, bags, accessories and equipment. All items must be accurately described including condition, age and any defects.
What can I NOT sell? Prohibited items include: needles, sharps and cannulas; syringes and drug measuring devices; surgical instruments for clinical use; patient monitoring devices; medications of any kind; counterfeit or stolen goods; and items subject to a recall or safety notice.
How long do I have to post an item after it sells? You are expected to post your item within 5 business days of a confirmed sale and mark it as delivered in your Medzr inbox immediately after posting. The platform allows a maximum of 14 days from the confirmed sale. If no action is taken within that time, the transaction is automatically cancelled and the buyer receives a full refund. You will not be paid. Do not leave it to the last minute; post promptly and mark as delivered straight away.
When is an order considered completed? An order is completed in one of three ways: the buyer manually marks it as received in their inbox; the system automatically marks it as received 14 days after the seller marks it as delivered, if the buyer takes no action; or Medzr as the operator marks it as received during a dispute resolution. Only once an order is completed is the seller’s payout triggered. If an order is never marked as delivered by the seller, it will auto-cancel after 14 days and the buyer will be refunded.
When do I get paid? You are paid when the buyer marks the transaction as received, or automatically 14 days after you mark the item as delivered if the buyer takes no action. Payouts go through Stripe and typically take 7–10 business days to reach your bank account.
What if I forget to mark my item as delivered? This is critical! If you do not take any action within 14 days of a confirmed sale, the transaction will automatically cancel and the buyer will be refunded in full. You will not be paid. Mark the item as delivered as soon as you have posted/shipped it. Do not wait.
How much commission does Medzr take? Medzr takes 12% of the sale price on each completed transaction (charged on subtotal only, not shipping, including 23% VAT so no additional taxes for users at sale end point). This is deducted from your payout automatically. There are no listing fees, you only pay commission when you make a sale.
How do I work out postage costs? Weigh your item including packaging, then use the postage calculator at anpost.com to get an exact price. Add this to your listing or build it into your asking price. We recommend using tracked postage and keeping your proof of postage.
Postage & Customs - Detailed Guide
Can I ship within Ireland? Yes, this is the simplest option and what we recommend for launch. No customs requirements apply. Use An Post, DPD Ireland, or Parcel Connect.
Can I ship to other EU countries? Yes. When sending within the EU (excluding Northern Ireland), an Aviation Security Declaration must be attached to the parcel. This is available at An Post. You must include a full and accurate description of the contents, your name, address and signature. No customs declaration is required for EU shipments.
Can I ship to the UK (Great Britain)? Yes, but it is more complex. Great Britain is outside the EU since Brexit. All items posted from Ireland to Great Britain must be presented to UK customs authorities. An Post will complete a customs declaration on your behalf through Revenue’s Automated Export System (AES). A CN23 customs label must be affixed to the parcel. You can provide the required customs data at your local post office or online via An Post’s Click & Post service.
What information do I need for a UK customs declaration? You will need: your name, address and contact details; the recipient’s name and address; a detailed description of the item(s); quantity and number of units; net weight; value of the item(s); category of the item(s); reason for export; and postage and shipping cost. Incomplete information may result in the item being returned to you.
What about Northern Ireland? Northern Ireland remains aligned with EU goods rules under the Windsor Framework, so no customs declaration is required when posting from Ireland to Northern Ireland. Standard An Post postage applies. We recommend checking anpost.com for the latest guidance.
Who is responsible for completing customs forms? The seller is responsible for completing all customs documentation at the point of posting. The buyer is responsible for any import duties, VAT or handling charges in their country. Medzr accepts no responsibility for delays, returns or charges arising from customs processing.
What if my parcel is returned due to incomplete customs data? This is the seller’s responsibility. Medzr strongly advises sellers to use An Post’s Click & Post service for international shipments to ensure all required customs data is submitted correctly before posting.
Payments & Refunds Is my payment secure? Yes. All payments are processed by Stripe. Medzr does not store your card details. Funds are held securely until the transaction is completed.
When is my card charged? Your card is charged immediately when you click Confirm and Pay at checkout. The funds are held securely and only released to the seller when the transaction is marked as received.
How do refunds work? If a transaction is cancelled; by dispute, automatic cancellation, or operator action, a full refund including Medzr’s 12%commission (charged on subtotal only, inclusive of 23% VAT) is returned to the buyer via Stripe. Refunds typically take 5–7 business days depending on your bank.
Tax & DAC7 Reporting
What is DAC7? DAC7 is an EU directive that requires digital marketplace operators like Medzr to collect certain information about sellers and report it to the relevant tax authorities; in Ireland, this is Revenue. It applies to all EU marketplaces and is designed to ensure transparency around income earned through online platforms.
Does DAC7 mean I have to pay tax on my Medzr sales? Not necessarily. Being reported under DAC7 does not automatically mean you owe tax. Selling personal second-hand items, such as scrubs you no longer wear or a textbook you have finished with, is generally not a taxable activity in Ireland. There is no fixed sales threshold below which you are automatically exempt from tax. It depends on the nature of what you are selling. If you are selling your own personal items you no longer need, this is generally not taxable regardless of the amount. If you are buying items specifically to resell for profit, different rules may apply and you should seek tax advice. Medzr is not a tax adviser and you should consult a qualified tax adviser if you are unsure about your own situation.
Will Medzr ask for my PPS number when I sign up? No. Medzr does not ask for your PPS number at registration. We only collect tax identification information from sellers who reach the DAC7 reporting thresholds during a calendar year. The vast majority of sellers will never be asked for this.
What are the DAC7 reporting thresholds? Medzr is required to report seller information to Revenue if a seller meets either of the following in a calendar year: 30 or more completed sales, or €2,000 or more in total sales. Reaching either threshold does not automatically mean tax is owed, it simply means Medzr must report your details to Revenue, who then make their own assessment. If you are approaching or reach either threshold, Medzr will contact you to collect the required information. You do not need to do anything proactively.
What happens if I reach the thresholds? If you meet either threshold, Medzr will contact you by email to request the information needed for DAC7 reporting; including your name, address, date of birth, PPS number and bank account details. You do not need to contact us proactively. If we need anything further, we will reach out to you directly. Please respond promptly to any such request as Medzr is required to file its annual report with Revenue by 31 January each year.
Will my information be shared with Revenue even if I don’t owe tax? Yes, if you meet the thresholds, Medzr is legally required to report your information to Revenue regardless of whether tax is ultimately owed. Revenue then makes its own assessment. This is standard practice across all EU marketplaces including Vinted, eBay and others. Completing a report does not mean you have done anything wrong.
